Our Projects

SLR Showpiece

The SLR Showpiece initiative is an integral part of the extension component of SLR. This program focuses on showcasing agricultural products directly to growers in WA. Its primary objective is to raise awareness and promote stewardship of these products, while also demonstrating their in-crop results to consumers.

One of the key aspects of the showpiece project is that it receives contributions from various crop protection companies. These contributions are then evaluated side by side to provide growers with options to suit their cropping program.

Through the SLR Showpiece initiative, SLR is working towards enhancing the knowledge and understanding for WA growers regarding agricultural products. Additionally, this program also serves as a platform for crop protection companies to showcase their products and connect with the target market.

GRDC Long Coleoptile

SLR coordinating a majority of the WA field trials in the latest multi-year project managed by CSIRO and funded by GRDC. The project aims to investigate the potential benefits, limitations, and suitability of long coleoptile wheat traits in Australia.

This project will provide valuable insights into the opportunities presented by long coleoptile wheat and guide farmers’ decision-making processes.

Safflower Project

Traditionally used for clothing dye, food and its attractive flowers, safflower nowadays is primarily used for oil.  With large scale production, safflower has potential to replace petrochemicals in industrial products ranging from fuels and lubricants to specialty chemicals and plastics.

GRDC and CSIRO developed Super High Oleic (SHO) varieties, with a modified oil profile to contain more than 90% oleic acid in every litre of oil produced. Go Resources are further developing Safflower’s position in sustainable agriculture.
